Code of Conduct: Notice of Prohibited Activities
The Foundation for Best Practices in Machine Learning (“FBPML” and/or “Foundation”) is an open-source, community-driven and collaboratively developed project. Given this, the FBPML values the involvement and contribution of all members of its community. In order to ensure open, bona fide collaboration and contribution, the FBPML is committed to creating a friendly, safe place both online and offline for its members.. As a result, all contributors, members, or affiliates of the FBPML (“Community Members”) are subject to this Code of Conduct.
This Code of Conduct applies to all spaces managed by the FBPML whether online or offline, including, but not limited to, the FBPML’s Wiki portal and forums, LinkedIn page(s), official website, and/or any other digital platform.
Under this Code of Conduct, Community Members are expected to engage one another with respect and dignity, especially concerning divergent viewpoints and/or experiences. Community Members are encouraged to be welcoming and inclusive of one another.
- Prohibited Conduct
The following is strictly prohibited under this Code of Conduct:
- activities and/or behaviour that amount or could amount to discrimination on the following grounds - gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, nationality, ethnicity, familial status, age, religion, belief, education, socio-economic status, and/or professional experience;
- activities and/or behaviour that amount or could amount to sexual harassment or harassment;
- activities and/or behaviour that promote or condone violence, intimidation, and/or exclusion, whether physical or other;
- the active commercial promotion or advertising of services and/or goods.
(Collectively, “Prohibited Conduct”)
Determinations of Prohibited Conduct will be at the sole discretion of the FBPML’s board, as reflected on the Foundation’s official website (“the FBPML Board”). The FBPML Board is entitled to authorise any agent and/or persons to make such determinations on its behalf.
The FBPML Board is hereby entitled to monitor for Prohibited Conduct on FBPML platforms (“Monitoring”). The FBPML Board is further entitled to authorise any agent and/or persons to conduct Monitoring on its behalf.
- Sanctions & Determinations
Community Members who do not adhere to this Code of Conduct are subject to sanction. Sanctions can include, but not limited to, temporary suspension, perpetual suspension, official apology, mediation, legal action, and/or any other action deemed appropriate by the FBPML Board (“Sanctions”). The determination of appropriate Sanctions for Prohibited Conduct is at the sole discretion of the FBPML Board and/or any other agent and/or persons duly authorised by the FBPML Board to make such determinations on its behalf.
If you would like to report Prohibit Conduct or suspicions thereof, you can contact the Foundation on email@example.com. When reporting Prohibited Conduct, please describe - (a) the nature of the instance, complaint or concern; (b) the names and/or details of individual(s) involved in, including possible witnesses and your own; and (c) your association to the instance, complaint or concern. All reports of Prohibited Conduct will be kept privileged and appropriately investigated.
